North Metro Fire Rescue District's Wildland Team was formally established and equipped in 2000. Over the years, the Wildland Team has served as a local, state and federal resource, deploying to fires throughout Colorado and the Western United States.
The team operates three vehicles that can be sent out on forest fires. The first is a Type 1 fire engine, which also operates as a reserve engine for the District. The other two are Type 6 brush trucks, which are primarily used to attack area brush fires. However, they have also been deployed as a federal resource.
