Compensation and Benefits

North Metro Fire Rescue District offers a competitive package of salaries and benefits for its employees.

Firefighters are compensated through the 2023-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement, while administrative employees' salaries are set through the 2023-2025 Administrative Pay PlanEach document covers salaries and benefits for North Metro Fire's employees.

Benefits

Retirement: This includes both a defined benefit plan through the Fire and Police Pension Association (FPPA) for both line and administrative employees and options for a 457 plan.

Paid Leave: Leave includes short-term disability, long-term disability and generous sick and vacation pay. Additionally, firefighters on the line receive 96 hours of paid leave per year for holidays, and administrative employees receive 14 paid holidays per year.

Tuition Assistance: Within some established guidelines, tuition assistance is offered to employees who desire to continue their formal college-level education. Firefighters wishing to pursue their paramedic certification may also qualify to have paramedic school paid for by the District.

Well-Being: North Metro Fire believes our employees are the organization's most valuable resource. As a result, we continue to develop expectational human resources programs for the hiring, development and retention of our employees. Additionally, the District enhances employee morale, productivity and safety through the development of wellness and safety programs.

All stations have exercise equipment, and our firefighters are required to work out daily. Additionally, we have premier fitness center within our Gold Leeds Headquarters Building, and administrative staff are allowed time off to work out if they participate in our Well-Being Program.

North Metro Fire's employee-led Well-Being Committee provides monthly education on physical, emotional, financial, career and social well-being. We bring in speakers and have an annual fitness challenge focused on health improvements and fun. Our ongoing programs include a Peer Support Team to address the emotional impacts of high-impact emergency calls, ongoing medical screenings, and other prevention initiatives through our Safety Program to mitigate exposure to hazards.

Social: The culture at North Metro Fire is one centered around a close-knit family. Staying connected is important to us, and we have several events to recognize employees and to socialize throughout the year. From our annual North Metro Fire Gala to summer barbecues and our holiday party where the kids can meet Santa, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
