Seven candidates are running to fill three board of director positions for North Metro Fire Rescue District. The election is scheduled for May 5, and residents and property owners will have the opportunity to vote in person or drop off their absentee ballots at two polling locations.
*CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Everyone must wear a face mask to enter a polling location. Other social distancing precautions will also be implemented at each polling location for those participating in the voting process.
Voters will be able to vote on three candidates. The candidates running to fill the board positions are:
- David R. Feineman
- Karl Honegger
- Timothy L. Long
- Jenni Maria Murphy
- Robert Nielsen
- Brian Peotter
- Kim Tavendale
Voters may find additional information on the candidates by visiting North Metro Fire’s election web page. Each candidate was allowed to submit a short biography and photo for the election.
North Metro Fire’s board members work collaboratively with staff to set the strategic direction and vision for the fire district. Additionally, they are responsible for approving the District’s budget, large contracts, guidelines and bylaws for the District, and fire codes and fees for services provided by North Metro Fire. The board typically meets the third Tuesday of every month at 5 p.m., with a few additional meetings held during the year for specific purposes.
Voting information
Anyone with an absentee ballot must have their ballot in to the fire district by 7 p.m. on May 5. In lieu of absentee voting, all residents and property owners may vote in person on the day of the election by going to a voting location on May 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
*PLEASE NOTE: Those voting in person or dropping off their absentee ballot must wear a face mask and follow social distancing measures implemented by North Metro Fire to protect the health and safety of voters and election staff.
