If someone is suffering from cardiac arrest, you can have a significant impact on someone's survival if you are equipped with lifesaving skills you'll learn in North Metro Fire's Family & Friends CPR. 
 
Family & Friends CPR
The Family & Friends CPR class is a free two-hour course that teaches hands-only adult, child and infant CPR, how to use an AED, and how to help a choking victim. The class is ideal for students, new parents, grandparents, babysitters and others interested in learning how to save a life but who don't need CPR certification for their job. 

Participants will follow an instructional video by the American Heart Association and get hands-on practice with CPR mannequins under the supervision of North Metro firefighters and staff. The Family & Friends CPR class does not provide a CPR certification card. The class is open to all ages, but any minors should be accompanied by an adult.

Bleeding Control Classes

Between the CPR classes, we will teach a one-hour bleeding control class, which is optional to everyone. Bleeding control classes are intended to teach you how to control a bleeding wound suffered from a traumatic injury. 

During the training, you will learn how to:

• Determine if an area is safe for you to proceed toward a victim to provide assistance.
• Identify any nearby tools to assist you such as a publicly placed bleeding control kit or everyday items that can be used to control bleeding.
• Use your hands to apply direct pressure at the site of the wound to stop bleeding.
• Pack a deep wound with cloth or gauze to control bleeding.
• Correctly apply a tourniquet to an injured limb to stop bleeding.
• Keep the victim calm until help arrives.
