Middle School Program (Death by Candlelight - Candle Safety)
Candles have been around for centuries, but recently their popularity has skyrocketed. People are decorating with candles of all shapes, sizes and colors in their homes, offices and school classrooms. North Metro Fire Rescue District offers the “Death by Candlelight” program educating middle and high school students within the District on the dangers associated with burning candles. Many students do not realize the fire danger of candles and frequently make decisions that place themselves, friends and loved ones at risk. In addition, this program will address the growing problem of juvenile firesetting by educating students on the legal, financial and personal consequences of inappropriate fire play.
