Businesses/Adult Groups

Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility
Perhaps the most challenging population to reach with important life safety information and education is our adult community. Whether you are setting a good example for your children or serving as a proactive member in your workplace, knowing how to prevent emergencies and how to handle them can make all the difference! That’s why North Metro Fire Rescue provides various opportunities for adults to learn about “real to life” safety skills. Some of these programs include:

Community Automated External Defibrillator Program
In January of 2003, North Metro formed a partnership with the City of Northglenn and the City and County of Broomfield with a Community Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Program. Multiple AED units have been placed in each community at public locations that experience a high number of visitors each day. Staff in each facility location have volunteered to learn how to effectively use the AED in certain cardiac arrest emergencies.

CPR Certification
With heart disease as the leading killer of Americans today, North Metro Fire Rescue wants to help train the general public and medical service providers in the community in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Properly administering CPR within the first 5 minutes of a cardiac arrest provides a 50% chance of saving the victim's life. North Metro Fire Rescue teaches the HeartSaver CPR/AED Course for the lay rescuer which includes hands-on, mouth to mask procedure, Automatic External Defibrillator use, and infant, child and adult CPR. The Healthcare Provider Course which includes hands-on, bag-valve mask procedure, mouth to mask procedure, Automatic External Defibrillator use, and infant, child and adult CPR will be offered twice per year.  Please see the schedule below.
