Heating Fires Heading into Peak Season October 28, 2005 —North Metro Fire Rescue and the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) are asking residents to prepare for upcoming winter temperatures by having a professional clean and inspect their furnace, woodstoves, and fireplaces this year. Each year a reported 45,500 fires are caused in the U.S. by heating fires in homes and apartments.

According to a recent survey conducted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), they estimate that approximately 16 million homes in the U.S. have smoke alarms that do not work.

Community & Patriotism Built a Healing Field October 19, 2005 —From September 11 through September 18, 2005, the Broomfield community with members of North Metro Fire Rescue, Broomfield Police Department and the City and County of Broomfield created a Healing Field .

North Metro Warns Parents About Dangers in Delaying Medical Attention June 8, 2005 —At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday June 7, 2005, North Metro Fire Rescue was called to the scene of a burn injury involving an infant. While paramedics were traveling with lights and sirens to the scene, the 9-1-1 caller (a cable repair person) witnessed the parent rush the child to her car to go for help instead of calling 9-1-1 and waiting for first responders.

Gate n'Green House Fire Injuries One April 25, 2005 —At 12:13 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2005, North Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a confirmed house fire at 15 Carla Way in the Gate N’ Green community. Arriving fire crews noted smoke coming out of multiple windows on the west side of a single-story home.

Come Prepared to the 9 Health Fair March 18, 2005 — The 9 Health Fair is fast approaching, but North Metro Fire Rescue Site Coordinator Don Wiercinski warns, “People need to take some simple steps to get the most out of their visit.” Individuals planning to take part in the blood chemistry analysis should fast for 12 hours prior to the test—this means no food. However, drinking plenty of water is recommended.

Horse Rescued from Owner's Pool March 5, 2005 — North Metro Fire Rescue was called to a rural residence at 10427 Ammons Street on an animal rescue. A horse named Chief, had wandered from his pasture into his owner’s backyard.

Liquor Store Fire - Update March 1, 2005 — North Metro Fire Rescue Fire Investigators continue their investigation on the fire at Northglenn Liquors which began at approximately 11:47 p.m. on February 28, 2005. North Metro Investigators have removed various pieces of evidence to be sent to a lab to test for flammable and ignitable liquids. In addition, a test is still being conducted on an electrical outlet in the store.

I-25 Morning Collision February 28, 2005 — At 2:51 a.m. this morning North Metro Fire Rescue responded to a confirmed vehicle fire on Northbound I-25 before the 104th Avenue exit. Upon arrival fire crews found one police vehicle on fire, a tow truck severely damaged and a semi-trailer that had rolled down an embankment.

Recall Issued on Multi-Purpose Barbecue Lighters February 10, 2005 — North Metro Fire Rescue wants to encourage residents who own Kitchen Works multi-purpose barbecue lighters to discontinue use of this recently recalled product. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers about the multi-purpose lighters created by Arett Sales Corporation (ASC), of Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Owner Attempting To Rescue Pet Becomes Second Victim February 13, 2004— At 11:05 a.m. today North Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to an ice rescue involving a dog that had gone out onto Josh’s Pond (located in open space west of the Loc Amora subdivision). As firefighters suited up in ice rescue gear and began the dog rescue a witness came up to the side of the pond and reported that the dog’s owner had also possibly gone into the water.
