Message from the Chief

As North Metro Fire Rescue embarks on another eventful year of community growth and development, at the heart of all our decisions and the priority for all North Metro personnel will be the safety and professional services provided to our citizens.

In 2008, we look forward to breaking ground on a new Fire Station location—along the Northwest Parkway. This Fire Station is being built to meet the future needs of housing and retail developments in Broomfield, as well as provide rescue and medical services to the Parkway. Throughout the year we will be recruiting new emergency services personnel that fit North Metro’s definition of quality customer service and exemplary emergency response skills.

In addition, we plan to begin construction of a centrally-located Headquarters facility that will consolidate the three separate administrative facilities within the Fire District. We know that customer service includes tightening our own communication, consolidating our administrative office space, and removing all confusion for our citizens on where to get their questions answered and their needs met.

Later this year, we anticipate the completion of the Fire District’s first-ever training center in Northglenn, adjacent to the Northglenn Water Treatment Plant. This state-of-the-art facility officially broke ground in August 2007; and when completed, will allow the Fire District to prepare our fire fighters for the challenges in fire suppression, hazardous material containment, specialized rescue, and wild land fire fighting. The strategic location of the facility will keep our personnel in the Fire District, ready to respond to any breaking emergency situations while participating in training activities. This facility will also house a Fire Station and a maintenance facility in order to properly care for our emergency vehicles.

All of these projects have been made possible through the support of our citizens with the passage of a bond in the May 2006 Special District election. The future for emergency services in our community is solid and we thank you for giving us your support. North Metro Fire Rescue District is proud to serve as your emergency services provider.

In addition to our emergency services, we are committed to making our community as safe as we can through prevention and education. North Metro invites you to take your family on a tour of their local fire station or have your children’s car seats checked at our weekly Wednesday “Fit Stations.” Visit the Education section of our new web site or call (720) 887-0404 to learn more about programs for our youth, seniors, businesses and families of the Fire District.

If you have any questions regarding the Fire District programs or services, please contact us. We want to know what you think and are eager to assist with any questions.

Sincerely,
John J. O’Hayre
Fire Chief
