Message from the Chief
Welcome to the North Metro Fire Rescue District web site, I’m Fire Chief Joe Bruce. It is a pleasure to serve the citizens and visitors to our Fire District which includes the City of Northglenn, the City and County of Broomfield, and portions of unincorporated Jefferson, Adams, Weld, and Boulder Counties.
Our organization’s slogan is “Excellence through each individual act.” At North Metro our employees are the greatest asset we provide to the community. It is through their daily dedication and professionalism that we are able to consistently provide high quality services to our community.
The first half of 2010 has been eventful for North Metro as we have transitioned new leadership in key emergency service positions at our fire stations throughout the District. Due to the depth of experience and professionalism amongst our ranks, we have been able to fill vacant positions with existing employees. The promotions have included the positions of Battalion Chief, Captain, and Lieutenant. North Metro has long held the philosophy that our future’s success depends upon developing the talent and resources within to meet the needs of our citizens. It is truly gratifying to see this vision take shape.
Currently North Metro is also completing a 16-week recruit academy to fill first responder vacancies. This class of six is the first group to experience the state-of-the art training facilities now available in District at our Training Center located in Northglenn. Every recruit in this class is Paramedic certified. And, once graduated from the academy they will be cross-trained to provide fire suppression, hazardous material, and technical rescue services to our citizens.
Finally, North Metro is currently constructing a centrally-located Administration Facility in Broomfield that will consolidate separate administrative facilities within the Fire District. We know that excellence in customer service includes tightening our own communication, consolidating our office space, and removing all confusion for our citizens on where to get their questions answered and their needs met. We are very excited about this project and anticipate opening the facility in the final quarter of 2010.
In addition to our emergency services, we are committed to making our community as safe as possible through education and prevention. On behalf of North Metro Fire Rescue, I invite you and your family to schedule a tour of your neighborhood fire station, register to learn the life saving skill of CPR, or have your child’s car seat checked at our weekly, Wednesday “Fit Stations.” To learn about the variety of life safety programs available to you, visit the “Education” section of our web site or call 720.887.0404. We have programs devoted to the needs of our youth, seniors, businesses, and families of the Fire District.
If you have any questions regarding the Fire District and the services we provide, please contact us at 303.452.9910 or send a message through our web site. We want to know what you think and are eager to assist with any questions.
I’m Fire Chief Joe Bruce and as I conclude this message please remember to be Fire Safe!
